But wait! There’s more!

The conference member early-bird price is set at $235, which is a savings over previous years. (Nonmembers $275-$300). And yet, we’re including all meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, plus offering additional programming!

Optional Friday Intensives, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – cost is only $15 (includes lunch, choose only one)

PAL Day, a series of presentations and roundtables geared for published PAL members (or those under contract for 2017-2018).

Write-In, in which you’ll actually get writing done! Plus, learn from your peers during breaks.

Extended Sunday Program, 12 – 4 pm – FREE – everyone welcome!

Stay for lunch and then join us for a presentation and panel discussion on what it’s like working with smaller presses, boutique agencies, and indie publishing. There will also be a showcase opportunity for members who’ve recently had an indie or small press book published. Additional faculty panelists are listed on the RegOnline official registration site/form.

And one more thing!

This year, we’ll be offering the chance to purchase multiple/additional critiques, as we’ve received feedback from our prolific writers, many of whom work across genres/categories. You can purchase up to three extras. Great for writers with multiple manuscripts!

Nuts and Bolts

Conference registration IS NOW OPEN. We will have an online registration option as well as the paper mail-in option. We have a block of hotel rooms reserved at a rate of $89/night (no extra tax or fees!). Rooms in the Roger Williams Inn, the location of all conference keynotes and breakouts, include singles, doubles, triples, and some that sleep four. Please call the Green Lake Conference Center at 920-294-3323 before August 19 and mention you’re with the SCBWI Writing Retreat to receive the discounted rate and select your room type. We recommend reserving your hotel rooms early. You can reserve your hotel room today if you want to!

To those with food allergies/dietary preferences: All meals will be served from the sprawling hot buffet and salad bar, which will have multiple entree and side dish choices for each meal. There is also a dessert and ice cream bar! Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets will be accommodated with options, but please register any specific dietary needs on this form here:

We’ll continue to provide updates, all of which will be posted on and on the listserv. If you would like to volunteer to drive our faculty (time in the car with an editor or agent) from Milwaukee or Appleton, or help out in another way, please email us at That’s also the address where you can direct any questions for now.

We are very excited at this large, experienced faculty with a wide variety of topics to share! And to be able to gather in such a scenic location, which is sure to provide ample inspiration. Please continue to watch your email, the listserv, Facebook page, and website for announcements. See you at the Lake!

Our best,

Andrea Skyberg and Miranda Paul, co-Regional Advisors
