Mark your calendar!
If you are scheduled to have a book(s) published between January 1 and June 30, 2019, from SCBWI PAL-recognized publisher, submit the information noted below no later than October 15, 2018 in order to have your book included in the spring release flier. This flier, submitted to libraries and bookstores, is for SCBWI PAL-recognized publishers and for books only, but applies to both authors and illustrators.
If you had a PAL book published in the prior year that was not included in the spring or fall fliers for the season in which it was released, you may send the info now, including the actual release date.
We must have your information by October 15, 2018. Information received after that date will be added to FALL 2019 flier, and will include a note about your actual release date.
If your publisher CONFIRMS that your book will release between January 1 and June 30, 2019 but doesn’t have an exact date or cover image, you may submit what you have for inclusion, or you may wait and have all information included in the FALL 2019 flier with a note about the actual release date. Your book will only appear in one or the other, so choose which will offer you the greatest benefit.
DIRECTIONS to submit your book for the spring 2019 release flier:
Submission information and questions should be emailed to BOTH of your PAL coordinators, Sandy Brehl at email@example.com and Judy Dodge Cummings at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please send the following information in this format:
Illustrator (if appropriate)
Target/format (picture book, chapter/early book, middle grade, or young adult)
ISBN: (choose only one ISBN number)
One or two sentence catalog description. Keep it brief. Think pitch line(s). No more than 50 words.
Thumbnail jpeg file of your book cover
*Sandy or Judy will send confirmation of receiving your info with 48 hours. If you don’t receive confirmation, please send again, especially if this is your first contact to Sandy or Judy. Your mail may have ended up in spam, so be sure to watch for your confirmation that the info was received.
Members should also notify SCBWI directly about current releases following the directions in the news section at the back pages of the latest Bulletin. Participation in the annual BOOKSTOP promotion and the new SCBWI monthly book birthday pages relies on AUTHORS/ILLUSTRATORS to submit your own work. These are major benefits of membership and we urge you to engage with them. Watch for Facebook, listserv, and monthly SCBWI email newsletter notices about these and take full advantage of the free service to maximize your book’s launch.
Thanks, and congratulations on your individual and our community’s publishing success!
